General Policies and the “Legal (but necessary) Stuff”


Registration Information

100% attendance and active participation is required for all courses. If there is a scheduling conflict prior to a course starting please consult with AquaLeaders to determine if alternate arrangements can be made.

  • Transfers or withdrawals from a course more than 7 days in advance are eligible for a full refund (no administration fee will be applied)[applies for all courses]

  • Transfers or withdrawals from a course more than 48 hours in advance but less then 7 days in advance are eligible for a refund ($15 administration fee will be applied).[applies for all non-Instructor or non-Trainer related courses]

  • Refunds or withdrawals will not be permitted with less than 48 hours notice from the start date. 

  • Any Instructor or Trainer level course (i.e. Lifesaving Instructor, First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor, Trainer Course) is not eligible for a refund if the request is made within 7 days of the start of the course.

No refunds or credits will be provided for courses or classes that are missed.


The virtual learning platform used, students will be able to interact and receive feedback from Instructors and their classmates. 

Under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, AquaLeaders is required to seek permission from the student (if 18 years of age) or their parental/guardian (if under the age of 18 years) for their consent, which is given directly to AquaLeaders.

Please note that any documents uploaded/online activities participated in the virtual classroom platform may be recorded, disclosed and stored to secure servers located outside Canada, which may be subjected to the laws of foreign jurisdictions. 

Please note by not accepting the above terms, you or your child(ren) will not be permitted to participate in web-based learning and online virtual classes with AquaLeaders.

Confidentiality of Personal Information

All information collected by AquaLeaders is maintained in accordance with established policies and procedures related to confidentiality.


Fees

All course registration fees include examination fees. Materials/manuals are not included and are an additional cost. Note: you may use a previously owned book (e.g. Canadian Lifesaving Manual, Alert Manual, Canadian First Aid Manual, etc.) if you have access to one.


Course Attendance

100% attendance and active participation is required for all courses. Late participants will not be admitted.


Candidates must turn the required age by the last scheduled day of the course, no exceptions. Proof of age will be required for all courses with an age prerequisite.

Note: Government identification is required for proof of age which may include: passport, drivers license, citizenship card, etc.

Age


It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure they have the required pre-requisites prior to the start of the course. Proof of pre-requisite is confirmed on the first day of the course. If you have any questions regarding prerequisites please contact us.

Prerequisites


Advanced leadership courses may require the student to complete a pre-course assignment or provide proof of instructional/lifeguarding experience before the course begins. Please consult the individual course descriptions to determine what is required. Where a pre-course assignment is required, registration will close one week in advance of the start date to allow for completion of the assignment.

Assignments and course packages will be e-mailed to you at least 2 weeks in advance. You may contact info@aqualeaders.com for more information or to inquire if the course package is available sooner.

Pre-course Assignments


Students are expected to show up to the class on time & be prepared with any pre-assigned homework or assignments.

For online classes, students must log in at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the class to ensure computer, webcam and microphone are working properly.

Actively participate in the learning activities.

Must participate coherently and not under the influence of any mind altering substances which may include but not be limited to alcohol, marijuana or illegal drugs.

Refrain from the use of angry and/or vulgar language including swearing, name-calling and shouting.
